Question 1: I've been thinking about the typology of questions for reader response that Mizokawa and Hansen-Krening describe on page 77 of their article. I notice that when I talk to my friends or my teachers/students about books I'm reading, I find it really easy to talk about "what I feel" (simplest) and "How I am 'triggered' morally, socially, civically by what I read" (most complex). But I don't think I usually spend time thinking about the questions in the middle (i.e., What is it in me than evokes this response? Could the events be changed? Should they be changed)...... is this true for everyone else?
I created this space in January 2011 for two purposes: The first was to keep a written record of my reflections on the YA literature that I was reading. The second was to share my responses with others (primarily my LTED 629 students) who are also reading similar works. I plan to continue posting to this blog during our Spring 2012 semester and I am very excited to begin the engaging work, once again.

Question 2: Connecting the CCS to Using Technology
Question 2: After reading through the elements of the Common Core Standards ELA for Reading Literature and reading Grisham and Wolsey's article, I am beginning to see how I could use technology (such as asynchronous discussions threads (e.g. TDGs) or reader response blogs) to meet the standards. But I am wondering, are there standards that are easier to meet using technology? If so, what are they? And are there more elements which could be met for our 10th graders than for our 6th graders?
Question 3: Good Teaching and a DRI lesson
Question 3: When I read through the Lesson Plan details in Chapter 2 of our textbook (Groenke & Scherff), it sounded to me like just an example of really, really good lesson. Would others agree or am I missing something?
Question 4: Teaching CCS using YA Lit
Question 4: Has anyone thought about the assignment Meeting ELA/Common Core Standards Using YA Literature? I am thinking of choosing OPTION A, which means it will look a lot like the example in Chapter 2 --with more lessons, obviously..... I was just curious, what are other people thinking of doing?

Let's Get This Party Started!
Sorry to be so lame with my PINK song reference, but I can't seem to get it out of my head today. I am getting very excited for the start of a new semester and another LTED 629 class. This year, the blog is going to be even more central to each writer's individual learning as well as the class-collective.
I can't wait to see what new insights I gain about myself as a reader as well as what I learn about "the world" from re-reading past YA favorites as well as new titles!
